Continued Prayers for California
Mark, we continue to keep you and your family as well as all the others in the path of these horrendous fires in California. The news this morning is not good...high winds and more evacuations. It brings tears to my eyes looking at the devastation and I can only hope that the weather changes and the fires can be brought under control.Take care and stay safe, Deb, Emmie, and Angel Kelsie

Status report...
We are still at home and watching the news 24/7.
There are 2 major fires being fought nearby - Eaton & Palisades with more than 12,000 structures destroyed so far and 7 fatalities. We are located between both of those, but the Eaton fire is much closer.
The major driving factors are once-in-a-century high winds that started last week, along with a 9-month long dry spell after near record rains in early 2023 & 2024 that created record amounts of wild brush on the surrounding mountains.
There were so many trees felled last Tuesday night in our neighborhood that many access roads were blocked. Parts of a tall palm tree fell on our bedroom roof (sounded like an explosion!) and Evelyn and I were outside pulling huge palm fronds off the roof & a skylight in near hurricane winds! Later that same night we joined some nearby neighbors to help clear an access road from fallen trees (most local roads have since been reopened).
Our local fire departments and city workers are doing heroic work along with many volunteer citizens. Thank you all for your concern.
